EDITORIAL
JSSIR issue brings interesting themes as the subject of empirical and analytical research
submitted from across different disciplinary domains. Some topics are relatively new
in the Pakistani research and disciplinary discourse like the first article that explores
the relationship between workplace design and employee productivity; as well as the
paper that focuses heuristics of e-shopping websites that help in attract women-shoppers,
a growing trend reshaping businesses.  The second article touches on often neglected
dimensions of businesses which if continued to be ignored further will damage the trust
that customers have in a company.s services or products. The informal communication
referred to as word of mouth is a powerful marketing strategy in times of service failure
through recovery satisfaction attempts. Against the changing geo-political scenario and
rise of powerful countries to counter USA.s strong-hold, the article USA.s policy towards
Asia is important for understanding the historical role USA has seen for itself in the
Asia-Pacific region and how this policy is being revisited by USA to adjust its focus
and engagement with regional allies for military, security and economic cooperation.
The institution of marriage is an important aspect in the eastern societies. Pakistani
society which is changing rapidly with laws prohibiting child marriages, and equal
opportunities of education and employment to women have enabled half of the country.s
population to think of having academic and career goals before marriage. Resulting in
a social change where early marriage trend is being replaced with late marriages and
the last article in the current issue reports a survey that explored the causes leading to
late marriages. The forum section presents an interesting write up that presents curriculum
designing related to English Language within different academia in Karachi. Such
findings from the varied institutional set- ups provide the baseline that helps in feeling
the status related to curriculum planning and handling.
